Rejoice, Amy Poehler Is Producing a Show Starring Carol Burnett

Carol Burnett is blessing us all again with her presence, and her new show will actually do her justice, because fellow red-haired comedian Amy Poehler is at the helm.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the untitled multi-cam is coming from Universal Television and will be written by Michael Saltzman (who has written for Mad Men, The Middle and Murphy Brown) and aired on ABC. There was apparently a big clamor for the project, and the network has given them a lot of money for a put pilot.

The show tells the story of a family that has the opportunity to buy a dream house, but a condition of the under-priced sale is that they must live with the current tenant, an older actress, until she dies. That actress will obviously be played by Burnett, and though that living situation sounds like a dream to me, she’ll probably make their lives a living hell! It’s also basically the situation at the Playboy mansion? Burnett over Hugh Hefner any day.

Poehler is executive producing under her Paper Kite Productions name, which is tied to Universal TV. Poehler is a big fan of Burnett’s, and presented the 2016 SAG Lifetime Achievement award to her alongside Tina Fey. In 2013, Poehler did a very funny character as Burnett’s long-time personal assistant when Burnett was awarded the Mark Twain Prize. Seems like they get each other:
