On Monday evening, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee looked into HB2, a Texas bill that has forced the closure of all but ten abortion clinics in the state by subjecting them to medically unnecessary, costly regulations. The Supreme Court is set to hear the case this week. If the court decides to leave the law intact, it could pave the way for the introduction of similar laws across the country.
The segment focuses on State Rep. Dan Flynn, one of the joint authors of HB2, as well as Americans United for Life, an anti-choice group responsible for writing the boilerplate version of this bill, and hundreds of others like it.
“Have you thought about regulating the safety of back alleys?” Bee asks Flynn in the clip. “Because that’s where a lot of women will be having their abortions now.”
