Everyone Was Too Scared to Ask Adele for a Playdate
“I’m like, ‘Reese, you’re the most famous. You have to ask Adele,’” Sarah Michelle Gellar said of all their kids being in the same preschool. But it seems like no one ever asked.

This week, our Big Little Lies-esque imagined limited series will star Sarah Michelle Gellar, Adele, and Reese Witherspoon (obviously). The only question is…who is going to get murdered at the end?
On a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Gellar revealed that she and Freddie Prinze Jr.’s son, Rocky, attended the same preschool as Adele’s son, Angelo, and all the parents were too scared to ask Adele for a playdate. Even better, Witherspoon’s son, Tennessee, was also in the same preschool class, and Witherspoon was also too scared to ask Adele.
“Everybody loved this kid,” Gellar said of Adele’s son. “They all wanted a play date, and everyone was like, ‘Well, who’s gonna call Adele and ask for a play date?’” Adele is indeed the celebrity among celebrities. So, how do you ask an international sensation if she’s free for Chuck E. Cheese or Trampoline Town, or wherever the hell people take six-year-olds these days?
“I’m like, ‘Reese, you’re the most famous. You have to ask Adele.’” She added, “She’s like, ‘I don’t want to ask Adele!’ None of us wanted to ask. We were all so nervous.” I get it. What are you gonna say? Hey Adele, I know you have a Las Vegas residency, but can you do pick up on Thursday? It just wouldn’t work.
Gellar concluded by saying that Adele was “so lovely and couldn’t have been nicer, but, man, we were all way too shy to call Adele.” Aw, celebs get self-conscious just like us. How sweet. But also, did Angelo ever get to play with anyone????
Gellar was set to reprise her role in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, helmed by Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao, before Hulu scrapped it earlier this month. She’s been outspoken about her disappointment and shock, telling People, “We had an executive on our show who was not only not a fan of the original, but was proud to constantly remind us that he had never seen the entirety of the series and how it wasn’t for him.”
However, after Gellar broke the news, which Disney would have preferred to keep hush-hush, counter-murmurs began circulating about a weak plot and an unsalvageable pilot…Who to believe? I’m not sure, but it sounds suspiciously similar to Renata’s efforts to end Madeline’s amateur production of Avenue Q. Hm…But I guess I have my answer to who was murdered: Buffy. RIP.
