Simone Biles, Queen of the Olympics, Bears the US Flag In Closing Ceremonies

Latest

On Sunday, Simone Biles picked up the flag for Team USA and paraded through Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana Stadium, mixed in with athletes from all over the world as is tradition for the Olympic’s closing ceremonies.

Biles is only the second gymnast ever given the flag-bearing honor for the U.S., in the opening or closing ceremonies. According to International Gymnast, qualifications usually begin the first day, so most gymnasts generally forgo parading around in the heat during the opening ceremonies. But all Simone Biles needs to do now is chill on the plane home, so here she is:

Biles won four gold medals at the Rio Games, and one bronze. She is now the most decorated American gymnast in history.

In Rio, she set the record for most gold medals won in women’s gymnastics at a single Games. Fly your victory flag, lady!
