Some Real Shocking News: Trump Campaign Accused of Sex Discrimination
PoliticsElizabeth Mae Davidson, an Iowa field organizer for the Trump campaign who was fired this month, filed a discrimination complaint against the campaign on Thursday. Well, I’ll be!
From the New York Times:
Elizabeth Mae Davidson, 26, who was the Trump campaign’s field organizer here in Davenport, Iowa’s third-largest city, said in a discrimination complaint that men doing the same jobs were paid more and were allowed to plan and speak at rallies, while her requests to do so were ignored. She also said that when she and a young female volunteer met Mr. Trump at a rally last summer, he told them, “You guys could do a lot of damage,” referring to their looks.
Davidson was fired the day after the Times published an article critical of the Trump campaign’s leadership (and which described her as one of the campaign’s “most effective organizers”). She wrote in her complaint that she was fired from her position as district representative for making “disparaging comments about senior campaign leaders to third parties” and breaking a nondisclosure agreement, allegations that she denied (no comments that could be described as disparaging were attributed to her in that Times article). In her complaint, Davidson wrote that men with the same title were quoted in the media without penalty.
