Stormy Daniels's Lawyer Wants to Depose President Trump Over $130,000 Payment
PoliticsMichael Avenatti, the strangely-attractive-to-only-me attorney for Stormy Daniels, filed a motion on Wednesday to depose Donald Trump and his lawyer, Michael Cohen.
The AP reports that Avenatti wants to depose the president and his attorney for “no more than two hours” to question them about the $130,000 payment made to Daniels in 2016, just days before the election, in exchange for her silence over an alleged affair with the president. The point of the deposition, according to the filing, is to find out whether or not Trump consented to the pay out; for the duration of this very juicy prestige television plot line, Trump’s lawyer has insisted that he paid the $130,000 to Daniels out of his own pocket and out of the goodness of his own heart.
“We’re looking for sworn answers from the president and Mr. Cohen about what they knew, when they knew it and what they did about it,” Avenatti told the AP. Cohen’s lawyer David Schwartz, less charmed than I am by Avenatti’s blue eyes and general smarm offensive, said that the filing is a“reckless use of the legal system in order to continue to inflate Michael Avenatti’s deflated ego and keep himself relevant.” Ouch!
For those who have forgotten, Trump’s lawyer Cohen has asserted that Trump never had sex with Daniels—a claim that Daniels initially agreed with, then refuted multiple times in public, forcing all of us watching from home to think to ourselves President Trump Fucks something like twice a month, at least.
