Texas Woman Killed By Police After Fatally Shooting Her Two Daughters

Texas police fatally shot a 42-year-old mother after she refused to put down the gun she used to murder two of her own daughters in a Houston suburb.

Christy Sheats was found by police just after 5 p.m. on Friday, standing in the street near the bodies of her two daughters, Madison, 17, and Taylor, 22. The Daily Mail reports that

Christy was still holding a pistol, and a Fulshear police officer was forced to shoot her after she refused to put it down, said Troy Nehls, a Fort Bend County Sheriff.
It is unclear whether Christy was pointing the gun at the responding police officer or at one of her daughters.

Madison was pronounced dead at the scene, and Taylor died from her injuries at the hospital a short time later. Investigators said that Sheats’ husband was home at the time of the shooting, and ran to the neighbor’s house for help.

The incident was apparently the result of a family dispute that spilled into the street. Deputies had visited the Sheats’ home before, though they declined to disclose why. According to ABC13:

“It would be too premature to give you a motive as to why something like this took place,” he said. “The best we can to pray for the father and husband so he can work through this.”

In March, Sheats posted the following message to her Facebook account, along with a video from 911Strong:

It would be horribly tragic if my ability to protect myself or my family were to be taken away, but that’s exactly what Democrats are determined to do by banning semi-automatic handguns.
