That Upcoming Heathers TV Reboot Has Finally Cast Its Heathers

Latest

There are two types of people in this world: those who think news about TV Land’s upcoming Heathers reboot is very, and those who think news about TV Land’s upcoming Heathers reboot should fuck them gently with a chainsaw. But before picking a side, read what The Hollywood Reporter wrote about the pilot (directed by Leslye Headland, who wrote and directed the tragically underrated Bachelorette):

Heather McNamara (originally played by Lisanne Falk) will be played by Mathews. In the TV Land pilot, she is a black lesbian; Heather Duke (Shannen Doherty) will be played by Scannell. The new version of the character is a male who identifies as gender-queer whose real name is Heath. Heather Chandler (Kim Walker) will be portrayed by Field. In the new incarnation, she is described as having a body like Martha Dumptruck.

Though we’ve covered this series before, today’s casting announcement helps give a more exciting glimpse into how exactly Headland will modernize the story—and it looks like she’s onto something good and smart. I see a lot of potential here, and will stand on the side of Team Very until seeing a pilot.

If, however, it ends up being as godawful as, oh, a cup of milk and orange juice, I’ll barf. And this reboot can just lick it up, baby. Lick. It. Up.
