You’ve got months to go until late January brings another Girl Scout cookie season, but when this most special time does roll around, know that you’ll have the opportunity to try out new s’more flavors—if you’re in “select markets,” that is.
There will in fact be two different types of s’more offerings, according to the Girl Scouts’ blog: “a crispy graham cookie double dipped in a crème icing and enrobed in a chocolatey coating and a crunchy graham sandwich cookie with a chocolate and marshmallowy filling.” Or, as the press release put it: “One is a clever take on the time-honored campfire treat, and the other is a s’mores-inspired cookie made with specialty ingredients.”
2017 will be the one hundredth year Girl Scouts have sold cookies, thereby sugaring their way into America’s heart. Hence the additional option. Said interim Girl Scouts of the USA CEO Sylvia Acevedo in a statement: “It only seems natural to celebrate it with a new cookie flavor that ties to our heritage and captures the adventurous, take-charge, and civic-minded spirit of our girls.”
Yes, I would like to order two cases of every flavor, so as to celebrate a proud history of fostering confidence and independence in young women. Tasting the leadership—that is my only motive. Why, I don’t even plan to eat them!
