There Is Unfortunately No Kissing in the Call Me By Your Name Trailer

Entertainment

Despite being a movie about two men who, from time to time, enjoy kissing each other that happens to be based on a novel about two men who, from time to time, enjoy kissing each other, the trailer for Call Me By Your Name shows its two leads—played by Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet—kissing each other exactly zero (0) times in its two-minute runtime.

There are shots of Hammer and Chalamet staring longingly at each other, a moment of play-fighting while lit by the falling Italian sun—even what appears to be a moment of post-coital cuddling during which Hammer whispers the name of the novel/movie to his summer lover—but, dear reader, there is no kissing. Though I guess that shouldn’t surprise anyone.

What you will find in the trailer for Call Me By Your Name is a host of positive blurbs from movie critics, images of Armie Hammer in teeny tiny swim trunks, the gorgeous imagery typical of the film’s visionary director Luca Guadagnino (responsible for two personal favorites: I Am Love and last year’s underseen A Bigger Splash), and a new Sufjan Stevens song (he wrote two for the film).

The trailer is below.
