The story of Anti won’t end, and I’m more than OK with it. Vulture reports this afternoon that, after learning Tidal blamed them for the album’s accidental leak last Thursday, Universal Music Group has denied all wrongdoing.
In a deliciously candid statement to Billboard, an “anonymous exec” from Universal called bullshit on Tidal’s accusations, writing:
This whole thing is absurd, we would have taken responsibility if it were our error. Instead of having their flack flail around trying to revise their own media spin, maybe they should just focus on serving Rihanna — that’s what we’re focused on.
“Flailing around trying to revise their own media spin” is pretty much what I imagine Tidal employees have been doing since last summer. We may never know for certain who leaked Anti, but we’ll always have the memories of Tidal employees play-fighting with all the suspects.
