Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Will End After Fourth Season With Possibility of Movie Finale

Entertainment

We’ll be getting way more Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt—the question is how much for we have now come to learn that a definite end is in sight.

Deadline reported on Thursday that the show’s upcoming fourth season will be its last on Netflix. That season will be long and drawn out, Game of Thrones-style, into two sets of micro-seasons, of six and seven episodes apiece, with the first premiering May 30. The show stars Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess, Jane Krakowski, and Carol Kane.

Netflix and Universal Television are also discussing a potential film coda to the series, which has been a huge critical success for the streaming platform, garnering 16 Emmy nominations. Turning an acclaimed TV show into a decent movie is tricky business though. I mean, 50 episodes will have aired by the time the fourth season wraps—that’s like 10 movies—but I guess if they’re all on Netflix/I don’t need to leave my apartment much less sit up straight to watch them, the distinction matters less.

Here’s a teaser for season 4:
