Even though some are misguided enough to think the world didn’t need more Drumline, the good people at VH1 knew better. The day Drumline: A New Beat premieres is coming closer and closer and luckily we have a little video tidbit of it to tide us over until then.
Since we last remarked on the Drumline sequel, our lead – you know, the one struggling to become the first female leader of her marching band – has been cast: she’s Alexandra Shipp, who replaced Zendaya Coleman in VH1’s Aaliyah biopic. Additionally, The Grio kindly points out that there’s a former Destiny’s Child member in our midst: “LeToya Luckett plays the beautiful, determined Atlanta A&T Dean of Students — Dr. Nia Phillips.”
Anyway, we don’t see much in this teaser, save for a kiss, a lot of drumming and some partying. Oh, and a brief look at Nick Cannon mysteriously wearing a fantastic outfit. Really really nice look Nick. You’ve aged well.
