The Elle Style Awards 2009, held in association with H&M at Big Sky London last night, brought out some bizarre duds. And one of the ugliest Uglies to bear the title in many a moon.
The Good:
Courtney Love, when she tries, can get away with a lot: a balls-out attitude will do that.
What makes Naomie Harris’ look is the demureness of the skirt paired with the sexy bodice.
Ben Grimes rocks short and sweet.
Alexa Chung, meanwhile, shows off a plunging iteration.
Only a tall woman like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley can look goddessy in this; the rest of us would just be wearing a nightgown.
The almost random trim looks whimsical on Freida Pinto.
VV Brown’s riot grrrl hair is adorable with a sweet, sharp frock.
The Bad:
I like boats. I like children. Don’t like Alexandra Burke’s… dress?
The weird part is, I feel like Roisin Murphy’s Arabian Nights deal could almost work if she’d made more of an effort with her hair! Now she merely looks eccentric…in the well-traveled-mom way.
Pixie Geldof’s…tunic? Is casual, crummy. Also, a tee shirt.
Kind of don’t want to give Gareth Pugh the satisfaction of commenting on this further. I know he’s a provocateur, but really.
Anna Friel’s dress does the work for me.
The Ugly:
I think we can all agree that Alice Dellal walked away with this one.
