Where the Hell is Stove???

In 2024—an entire lifetime ago—when Lana Del Rey first announced that her forthcoming 10th studio album would be country-inspired, I was on board. So down, in fact. Seated and standing by. But I should have known better, because the album formerly known as Lasso, then as The Right Person Will Stay, and now as Stove, is still MIA after years of patiently waiting. And I’m sick of it. I know LDR works in mysterious ways, but here’s my question for the culture: Where the hell is Stove???

The first album delay came in April 2025. After releasing the single “Henry, Come On,” she announced to devoted Instagram followers, “You know [the album] is not going to come on time, right? Should I even tell you that the name changed again?” The album was then set for release in January of 2026 with the promise of 6 additional songs; however, in February, after two years, two album names, and now three singles, she announced that she had renamed the project to its (hopefully) last iteration, “Stove,” and that it would be coming “soon.” Based on the most recent single, “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter,” this record is shaping up to be her most Twilight Zone-meets-Sylvia Plath body of work yet, hence the excitement. So where the hell is it? Let the record state she delivered the following words to her Instagram story circa February 2026:

“I know, you’re asking about the record. But honestly, soon. ‘Cause vinyl takes three months, so three months plus two weeks. It could be give or take a bit less than that.” Well, it’s been three months. It’s actually been five months. How long does it take to press vinyls?

Granted, it has been a busy few years for Lana. In 2024, she married alligator tour guide Jeremy Duprene and moved to Louisiana, where she is now seemingly enjoying a life of domestic Southern Gothic bliss, playing with alligators on the bayou, cooking for her husband, and NOT attending the ritzy Taylor Swift wedding. All this seems like fertile ground for her new era, and fans like me are entering the last stage of impatience to finally hear what married life sounds like for Lana.

During festival appearances last year, she performed some rumored tracks from the album, like the song “57.5”, in which she sings, “I kissed Morgan Wallen / I guess kissing me kind of went to his head.” An instant classic, but unfortunately, you can only listen to it via a TikTok clip because she might never release this damn album.

Sigh, may this blog serve as the quasi-internet manifestation that finally summons the record into existence.
