White House Accuses Outgoing Ethics Chief of 'Grandstanding' in Statement That Misspells His Name

• Walter Shaub, who recently resigned as the head of the Office of Government Ethics after six months of tangling with a historically uncooperative president who appears to be profiting from his office, told the New York Times that “I think we are pretty close to a laughingstock at this point.” Walter—I think you’re right! The White House retorted that “Mr. Schaub [sic] is not interested in advising the executive branch on ethics. He’s interested in grandstanding and lobbying for more expansive powers in the office he holds.” [The New York Times]
• A district court ruled that grandparents from the six countries included in Trump’s travel ban are now eligible for visas in an updated definition of “close family.” Also included now are grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. [Reuters]
