Would You Like More Margaret Atwood With Your HBO?

Latest

Dang: HBO just greenlighted MaddAddam, an adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s dystopian trilogy of genetic shenanigans/apocalyptic disaster that kicks off with Oryx and Crake. Even better, Darren Aronofsky (last seen drenching Russell Crowe and pissing off evangelicals with Noah) will be executive producer.

Wouldn’t want to be the network underling dispatched to keep that budget under control!

For the rest of us, though, it’s a pretty exciting prospect. Deadline reports the project is currently in development, and there’s a possibility Aronofsky might direct. Worst case scenario, it’s gloriously bananas. Of course, now I’m just going to spend the rest of the day fantasizing what it would look like if he did a big-screen adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale. (Besides nightmare-inducing.)
