An Alaska Airlines flight from Portland to Anchorage was diverted yesterday after a man attempted to kiss a sleeping 16-year-old girl.
According to officials, the 23-year-old man was sitting next to the teenager when he leaned over and tried to kiss her. The passengers were separated and the pilot was notified; the plane was diverted to Seattle-Tacoma Airport. The man was arrested in Seattle and charged with fourth-degree assault, and his name as not been released. The girl stayed on the plane and continued her flight to Anchorage.
The news comes just a few days after the FBI arrested 26-year-old Chad Cameron Camp on a flight bound for Portland, Oregon after he inappropriately touched a 13-year-old girl multiple times. In that case, the girls’ parents allege that American Airlines did little to prevent the abuse and failed to take swift action to separate Camp and the girl. Camp touched the girl over the course of half an hour before a flight attendant noticed “a single tear coming down the victim’s cheek.” He is accused of abusive sexual contact.
