Beyoncé Out-Earns Jay Z by Almost Double

Latest

In a major shock, Beyoncé failed to make the Forbes “World’s Most Powerful Celebrities” list. Oh, please, you know that’s impossible — she was actually ranked number one.

The annual list ranks 100 very famous rich people “from the worlds of movies, TV, music, sports, books and modeling based on money and fame.”

Beyoncé, who has not slept for the past two years, brought in an average of $2.4 million over 95 concerts and dropped a surprise self-titled album, which nearly broke the Internet. She also signed lucrative endorsements with H&M and Pepsi and released a slew of perfumes. All in all, Forbes estimates that Beyoncé earned $115 million between June 1, 2013 and June 1, 2014.

Like all true queens, Beyoncé surpassed her husband Jay Z, who placed sixth on the list with $60 million in earnings.

Forbes determines the list of famous people you give all your money to through overall earnings, the number of times they were mentioned in print, TV and radio, as well as each celebrity’s social media reach. A new ranking mechanism was added this year to measure cultural impact.

This year, we also added an impact ranking (similar to the ones used in our lists of The World’s Most Powerful Women and World’s Most Powerful People) for each celebrity. The number is the degree of impact each celebrity has had on the entertainment industry and our culture overall during the prior year, based on the evaluation of the list editors, reporters and their sources for the list.

It seems like this is where Beyonce probably killed it. I remember the mayhem that followed her December 13th album drop when music editors were scrambling to include her on their end of the year lists even though the album had been out for a total of three days.

In addition to Beyoncé, the top ten famous money-havers list includes Oprah (#4), Ellen DeGeneres (#5), Rihanna (#8), and Katy Perry (#9).

In significantly more depressing news, Glenn Beck came in at #39, Rush Limbaugh at #59 and Sean Hannity at #86.

At this point, what kind of ranking or award do you think it takes to get Beyonce excited? I feel like she’s going to start going after really unexpected acclaims like a Nobel Peace Prize or a MacArthur Fellowship just to see if she can pull it off. Because she probably heard about this Forbes number one ranking business and went “Yeah? Duh. Have you met me?”
