Cher Continues to Deny Allegation She Kidnapped Her Son (But If It Were True She Wouldn’t Tell Us Anyway)
A recently revealed court filing alleged the icon had hired four men to abduct her son, Elijah Blue Allman, from a hotel room in November 2022.
CelebritiesDirt BagStraight-shootin’ multi-hyphenate icon Cher bluntly told the New York Post, “I didn’t do it,” when asked in a recent interview about the allegation that she hired men to kidnap her son Elijah Blue Allman last year.
But, there’s a but. Cher continued: “And if I did it, I wouldn’t say I did it.”
“You never stop being a mom — you go to the end, you go to the mattresses when you’re trying to save your children. But I didn’t do it. And if I did it, I wouldn’t care to tell you,” she continued (and reiterated).
The allegation comes from divorce documents filed in court by Marie Angela King, the estranged wife of Allman, in December 2022 (the filings were only revealed in September). She alleged that Allman was abducted from a hotel room on November 30, 2022 (their wedding anniversary) by four men. “I was told by one of the four men who took him that they were hired by petitioner’s mother,” King said in the docs. “Since August 2022, I have been told that I am not allowed to see or speak to [Allman] who is currently in lockdown at a treatment facility that is undisclosed to me. I am also told [Allman] has no access to his phone.”
Earlier this month, Cher broke her silence on the allegation to People, saying “that rumor is not true” and, according to the magazine, declining to comment further. But if she did comment further…I wouldn’t tell you. Just kidding, and she kind of did.
“I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t,” Cher continued (or something!). “I’m a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children. You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them.”
In the past, Allman has discussed his issues with drugs, including heroin.
I think the biggest news here is that Cher wouldn’t talk about something like this if it were true. She’s always seemed like such an open book. I guess she still is, in a way, about not being open. Levels.
