Cheryl Hines and Larry David No Longer Speak

“I think it’s just politics," the actress postulated. "It makes conversations.” And costs people jobs, friends, and respect.

Dirt Bag
Cheryl Hines and Larry David No Longer Speak

In case you haven’t been keeping tabs on Cheryl “Mrs. MAHA” Hines, the actress, author, and one-time lifestyle brand CEO, has mostly been focused on promoting her memoir, Unscripted, and staunchly defending her husband, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., in every single interview. The women of The View, for instance, took particular delight in “grilling” Hines.

Only in a sit-down with Billy Bush (the entertainment journalist at the center of President Trump‘s infamous “grab ’em by the pussy” hot mic incident) could Hines be safe from any serious lines of inquiry. However, he did manage to get an interesting admission from her: Hines and her former co-star and friend, Larry David, haven’t spoken since the season 12 finale of Curb Your Enthusiasm in 2024.

“Well, I haven’t talked to him in a while,” Hines said on the Hot Mics with Billy Bush podcast this week. “I love Larry, and I think Larry loves me. I think it’s just politics, it makes conversations.” To be clear, Hines has sacrificed at least one of her jobs, friends, and industry respect thanks to the “politics” and “conversations” espoused by her husband. More importantly, innumerable lives have been impacted by those “politics” and “conversations” too.

News that she and David are no longer close isn’t much of a surprise. On Wednesday, the Daily Mail reported that Hines’ friends in Hollywood are shocked by her constant justifications of Kennedy’s conservatism. As one unnamed source told the tabloid: “It’s so hard to make sense in my head because she was so liberal before.”

Since Kennedy’s infidelity made headlines in September 2024, Hines has played the dutiful wife. Not only did she stand by Kennedy when news of his “inappropriate relationship” with former New York Magazine political reporter Olivia Nuzzi broke, but she’s accompanied him to multiple events and—most damning of all—said near-nothing as most of Kennedy’s family publicly disowned him during his disastrous confirmation hearing. Ironically, as much as Hines claims she doesn’t feel compelled to justify her husband’s decisions, she’s only really doubled down on them since news of his “sexting scandal” with Nuzzi.

“I don’t think there’s any point to going through every rumor and headline to try to defend or explain it,” Hines told the Wall Street Journal in August. “Bobby and I talk about everything, so that’s how we move through everything, and we’re really good friends, and we trust each other.”

Shame! Shame! Shame!
