You know that feeling when your singing is mistaken for a horrible, death-beckoning scream?
On Tuesday evening, Amsterdam police received a call reporting “terrifying screams” coming from an apartment, according to a Facebook post. Upon responding to the call, police discovered that there was only one gentleman in the apartment, and that he was calm, according to CNN.
It turns out the man was listening to some opera on his headphones and enjoying singing along. He wasn’t screaming; he was singing.
The cops and the man shared a good laugh at the misunderstanding and the cops left him to his hobby, which is now probably no longer something that gives him very much joy and oh God I’m crying.
