Constricting Torture Device Spanx Now Available in the Form of Jeans

Latest

Good news, fans of sausage-casing thighs: Spanx is branching out into denim.

Over at Fashionista, Dhani Mau reports that the multi-million-dollar foundation garment company is about to drop some skinny jeans:

Come July 25, the brand will offer two styles of jeans: One, called the Signature, will be high-waisted with a wide waistband (meant to be hidden under a shirt) and a side zipper. The other, the Slim-X, is a traditional five-pocket jean with a lower, but still high, rise that shirts can be tucked into. According to a rep for the brand, the jeans have “patent-pending hidden shaping features that create a perky rear and all-around slimming fit.”
Both styles will be available in skinny, straight and bootleg cuts and start at $148, which puts them in line with top denim brands like Paige and J Brand in terms of price.

It remains to be seen whether or not the jeans will have that oh-so-suffocating feel that Spanx excels in providing. But honestly, the Signature style — which seems to have removed the button and zipper from the belly, where they are prone to poking and digging in — seems like a good idea. Question, though: Will you feel like you’re wearing maternity clothes?
