Designer Disney Princess Dresses are Now For Sale

Latest

Ok, everyone, time to start cheerfully consorting with woodland creatures in the hopes that a passing spirit will reward the pureness of your heart: Harrods and Disney will auction off ten Disney princess-inspired dresses designed by some of the world’s most revered fashion houses, including Versace, Oscar de la Renta, and Elie Saab. Profits will go to the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity; according to my most educated guess, each dress will cost approx. £ ∞.00. Seriously, everyone: lure yourself a charitable fairy godmother.

The one-of-a-kind dresses will be auctioned off on November 13; they’ve already caused a huge amount of excitement, obviously, because it’s a scientific fact that people lose their shit over Disney princesses. Upon the auctioning block you will find some more literal takes of the outfits from the animated films (Valentino’s silk chiffon dress for Belle and Oscar de la Renta’s intricately embellished Snow White gown and cape, for instance) and some looser interpretations — Marchesa’s silk mermaid gown for (duh) The Little Mermaid stands out.

The other designers to contribute were Roberto Cavalli, who made a dress to represent Pocahontas; Escada, who did Jasmine; Missoni for Mulan; Versace, who chose Cinderella; Ralph & Russo for Princess Tiana; and a Rapunzel dress by Jenny Packham. And here‘s Comme des Garçons for Lilo and Stitch (just kidding; I wish).

Vogue UK has a slideshow of every look, complete with the original sketches.
