First Images Of Pixar's Brave New Heroine

Latest

Pixar’s Brave is a multitude of firsts for the animation company: it’s their first original fairytale, the first Pixar movie to be co-directed by a woman, and the first female-led narrative. The movie, which takes place in Scotland, tells the tale of Princess Merida’s coming of age and eventual defiance of her parents, which in turn jeopardizes her entire Kingdom.

Walt Disney Pictures describes the story as such:

Set in Scotland in a rugged and mythical time, “Brave” features Merida, an aspiring archer and impetuous daughter of royalty. Merida makes a reckless choice that unleashes unintended peril and forces her to spring into action to set things right.

Princess Merida will be voiced by Kelly Macdonald, and her royal parents by the lovely Emma Thompson and Craig Ferguson. The film is due out June 22, 2012.
