“At first I thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m so Hillary [Clinton]’, but I had a long political call with Caitlyn last night about why she’s voting Trump. I’m on the fence,” she told Barlow.*
Yes, it’s so hard to choose, when one candidate is somewhat uninspiring and hawkish and overly secretive and the other one is an absolute maniac who would almost definitely ruin the world. What an impossible choice that is! Ah, to be a fly on the wall during this riveting meeting-of-the-minds!
No definitive word as to what Kanye thinks about all this—he’s donated to Clinton’s campaign, but was also reportedly heard praising Trump on an airplane in March—but here’s Kim on his 2020 ambitions:
Last summer, Kanye announced he wanted to run for President in 2020. How seriously is he taking the campaign? Is Kim prepared to be First Lady? She laughs.“Look at all the awful things they’re doing to Melania [Trump], putting up the naked photos [of her]… I’ll say to Kanye: ‘Babe, you know the kind of photos they’d put up of me!’ Haha.” Who would he be running for? “I don’t wanna put words in his mouth, but I’m pretty sure the Democrats. Maybe independent? I don’t know how serious he is about it. We’ll see…”
Wouldn’t it be fun if your country’s political future was an abstract, somewhat irrelevant little game to briefly ponder in between million dollar paychecks?
*UPDATE, 8:30 PM: The quote attributed to Kim Kardashian regarding being on the fence about Trump was published by the Huffington Post via the Evening Standard, and the Huffington Post still claims to have “confirmed [the quote’s] validity” (although they have since removed the reference to the author with whom they reportedly confirmed). However, Wonderland denies that this quote appeared in the story. A statement to Just Jared reads:
A rep for Wonderland magazine denies the validity of the quote floating around. “It’s incorrect. Wonderland did not print that or publish that. The issue is on stands and that’s not in it,” the rep told JustJared.com.
We reached out to a rep from Wonderland and the author of the piece earlier this afternoon and did not hear back. The Huffington Post has updated their story with these developments; the Evening Standard has not.
UPDATE, 9/25: Kim Kardashian has clarified, via her website, that she is indeed With Her; she acknowledged having said she was “on the fence,” but says the decision came after “careful consideration.”
According to BuzzFeed, the quote was included in a preview version of the article sent out to select press, but it was mysteriously absent from the online edition of the article or the PDF version on the author’s website. The author tweeted this last night:
