Hugh Hefner Named for Conspiracy in Model's Sexual Assault Lawsuit Against Bill Cosby

Latest

Model Chloe Goins has re-filed a lawsuit against Bill Cosby, who she alleges drugged and sexually assaulted her when she was a teenager visiting the Playboy Mansion in 2008. In the new papers, filed on Monday in Los Angeles, Goins names Hugh Hefner, accusing him of conspiracy.

Goins’s attorney, Spencer Kuvin, told the New York Daily News, “As we continued to investigate, we found additional evidence that we felt pointed toward Mr. Hefner being complicit.”

“It’s obviously kind of sad. Mr. Hefner is 90 years old now, and we’re suing him for what he’s done the 30-plus years he was friends with Mr. Cosby. It doesn’t make us happy, but I don’t think he should get away without being held accountable for being complicit.”

Lawyer Gloria Allred has also asked that Hefner testify in the sexual assault case of Judy Huth, who claims that Cosby also sexually assaulted her at the Playboy Mansion when she was a teenager in 1974.

This is not the first time that Goins has accused Cosby of sexual assault; the LAPD declined to pursue her investigation in January, citing insufficient evidence, and she filed a federal lawsuit in October 2015, but then withdrew it. Now she has refiled in state court, “where we’d have more leeway with respect to discovery,” Kuvin said.

Hefner has remained relatively quiet as his friend has been called to answer for these many accusations against him. In 2014, when news of Cosby’s history first became public, he said, “the mere thought of these allegations is truly saddening.” He added, “I would never tolerate this kind of behavior, regardless of who was involved.”

Cosby has been accused of assault by more than 40 women over the last 18 months. He is still suing several of these women for defamation, being sued by several of these women for defamation, and fighting Andrea Constand’s felony criminal case in Pennsylvania, for which he has been out on $1 million bail since December.
