Idina Menzel and Julie Andrews Tackle the 'Adele Dazeem' Issue

Latest

Sweet musical heaven! Stars of stage and screen Julie Andrews and Idina Menzel appeared on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live last night, making some person’s dream dinner guest list materialize before their very eyes.

Two things that were bound to come up: The time John Travolta introduced Menzel as “Adele Dazeem” at the Oscars and NBC’s attempt at The Sound of Music, starring Carrie Underwood.

The women taddressed the topics with a diplomacy that was both admirable and a little disappointing. (This is Watch What Happens Live! Guests are supposed to get drunk and mean!) But we probably shouldn’t expect any less from classy broads like these.

Of The Sound of Music, Julie Andrews said that after 50 years it was time for someone else (NBC) to take a stab at it, adding that Carrie Underwood “made it her own.”

As for the Adele Dazeem/Oscars debacle, Menzel confessed that it made her a little flustered.

“[Travolta] introduced me and then for eight seconds I felt very sorry for myself. And then I said, “Get my shit together. This is your chance. Sing the damn song. Who cares?”

Let it gooooooooooo.
