Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley Had ‘Different Personalities’

Last week, Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley confirmed their separation after three years of marriage. But before the digital ink was dry, the internet had already begun speculating about the reason for the split. It was infidelity. It was Famesick. It was that stunning Vanity Fair cover, etc. Plus, “sources” began crawling out of the woodwork to feed quotes to outlets, leaving behind a trove of PR breadcrumbs for us to pick through. So let’s…

The rumor mill began when Antonoff attended Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding with his sister and NOT his wife. Afterward, fans noticed that Qualley had scrubbed all evidence of Antonoff from her Instagram profile, including their 2023 wedding photos, and on the following Wednesday, the split was officially confirmed in People, providing enough kindling to start the internet fire of breakup speculation. But on Tuesday, a source told the outlet that the split was a result of “different personalities.”

“Margaret has a light, very positive energy. She’s warm, upbeat and always tries to see the best in people,” the source says. “Jack tends to be more serious. They just look at life differently. Their personalities weren’t the best match in the long run.” I have a feeling this source was in Qualley’s camp because this quote does not make Jack look great. He’s the opposite of warm, upbeat, and positive? Sounds like a swag gap to me, or an insurmountable imbalance of swag, which should be grounds for divorce in my opinion.

“She genuinely loves acting and gets excited about every new project,” the source added. “That’s always been a huge part of who she is. She’s the happiest when she’s working and right now, she’s just looking ahead and focusing on what’s next. She’s spent years building her career and is excited to keep doing what she loves.” Good job, Qualley PR team. Now, where is Jack’s?

After the internet did its thing with the separation news, Qualley’s reps also went to People to clarify that this was absolutely not a cheating situation: “The narratives running in the press about Margaret and Jack are categorically untrue,” the statement read. “There are no trust issues. There was no infidelity or anything outside of respect and partnership in this relationship.”

Just a swap gap, then. Got it.

Another source said: “They love each other deeply and are very sweet to each other. They are going through this process with nothing but kindness and unity.” Sounds like they would very much like people to stay out of their business. But then, what ever would we do with our lives?
