Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley Separate After 3 Years of Marriage

After nearly three years of marriage and one unforgettable Taylor Swift wedding, Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley have split.

On Friday night, as guests began arriving at Madison Square Garden for Swift and Travis’s Kelce’s top-secret wedding celebration, fans and nosy internet sleuths (yours truly) couldn’t help but notice Antonoff arriving sans his wife. Still, that wasn’t enough to sound alarm bells just yet. Qualley is a working actress, and ICYMI, literally no one knew when or where the wedding would be until days before. But as the wedding weekend unfolded, more evidence of a possible split surfaced: Fans noticed that Qualley scrubbed all evidence of Antonoff from her Instagram profile, including their 2023 wedding photos, which, according to Twitter, is evidence enough of the official end of one’s relationship. I wasn’t convinced of the rumors yet, but I was holding my breath, and as of Wednesday, the other shoe dropped. An inside source has now confirmed the couple’s separation to People, telling the outlet that the relationship is “rocky.”

“They argue a lot, and between her career and him constantly being on the road or working late in the studio, it’s been difficult,” the source added. A second source confirmed that they are “figuring things out.” Meanwhile, Deuxmoi cites “several reasons” for the split, including that Antonoff was “difficult to live with.” Amid People dropping the news, Qualley un-deleted her photos with Antonoff back onto her Instagram, and Antonoff was spotted walking in Brooklyn still wearing his wedding ring, so what the hell is going on? Who’s pranking me? Stay tuned for this developing story…

I have to admit the news would be surprising, considering they wed less than three years ago and, based on my completely unqualified parasocial analysis, seemed totally in love. The pair started dating in 2021 and got hitched in 2023, inspiring the Bleachers’ song, “Dirty Wedding Dress” (which was also the caption of Qualley’s now-deleted Instagram post). Lana Del Rey and Antonoff also wrote the song “Margaret” about Antonoff and Qualley’s love story, and in it, repeat the line, “when you know you you…” I hope they still know.

Antonoff’s previous relationship with Lena Dunham (who was also at the wedding) was recently exposed in Dunham’s memoir, Famesick, in which she spares no details about the demise of their relationship, including some memories regarding Antonoff’s behavior with Lorde during the making of “Melodrama.” Did Famesick drive the wedge between Antonoff and Qualley? My bet is no. Dunham and Antonoff have remained cordial through it all, and perhaps celebrities’ love lives are ever-evolving, complicated tapestries, and not as simple to decode as the internet would make them out to be. Huh!
