JD Vance Won’t Let Usha Go Skydiving
In a bizarre analogy about Iran enriching uranium, Vance said that while Usha “has the right to skydive,” she won’t because he doesn’t want his wife jumping out of an airplane. Wow!

What do Second Lady Usha Vance and skydiving have in common with Iran and nuclear enrichment? According to Vice President JD Vance, a lot more than you’d think!
Speaking to reporters outside Air Force Two in Hungary on Wednesday, Vance was discussing the U.S.-Iran ceasefire and ongoing talks over Iran’s 10-point peace plan when he was asked whether the administration would allow Iran to continue enriching uranium for “civilian nuclear purposes.” (Uranium can be used to produce clean energy for electricity, purify drinking water, or be used in certain medical treatments.) And Vance—doing what he does best—name-dropped Usha, and made things weird.
“I thought to myself, you know what?” he replied. “My wife has the right to skydive, but she doesn’t jump out of an airplane because she and I have an agreement that she’s not going to do that because I don’t want my wife jumping out of an airplane.” As Joyce Carol Oates later tweeted, the subtext here is clear. “The only way my wife jumps out of an airplane is if I push her. End of discussion.”
You’ve made your bed, Usha, but blink twice if you need help, I guess.
To be fair, if I were married to JD Vance, I would also want to jump out of an airplane. https://t.co/hDyMecEpsr

“We don’t really concern ourselves with what they claim they have the right to do,” Vance continued. “We concern ourselves with what they actually do.” This also sounds like the wording the GOP uses to control women’s bodies!
This second weird comment was in response to Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the speaker of Iran’s parliament, who on Wednesday accused the U.S. of violating at least three clauses in Iran’s proposed 10-point peace plan. Its sixth clause, which reportedly says Iran has a “right to enrichment,” was challenged when Trump promised on Truth Social to “dig up and remove” all of Iran’s uranium.
“The deep historical distrust we hold towards the United States stems from its repeated violations of all forms of commitments—a pattern that has regrettably been repeated once again,” Ghalibaf wrote in his statement on Twitter. “Now, the very ‘workable basis on which to negotiate’ has been openly and clearly violated, even before the negotiations began.”
The 10-point plan was reportedly agreed to on Tuesday, two hours before Trump’s 8 p.m. deadline, threatening to end an entire civilization. According to Iranstate media, the conditions listed include lifting sanctions on Iran, allowing Iran to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz, and getting the U.S. to withdraw its military from the Middle East.
So far, nothing’s happened, and the ceasefire looks about as strong as Vance’s relationship with Trump…
