Kevin Spacey Gets the House of Cards Send-Off He Deserves

EntertainmentMovies

We know Kevin Spacey won’t appear in Season 6 of House of Cards—he was fired from the show after actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of making unwanted sexual advances when Rapp was 14. But there will be a tombstone for Spacey’s character Frank Underwood. In the teaser for the show’s final season (which premieres November 2), Robin Wright, as Claire Underwood, stands before her deceased husband’s grave and basks in the fact that he’s dead and she can fully flex her power without Frank leering over her shoulder.

“I’ll tell you this though, Francis. When they bury me, it won’t be in my backyard,” Claire says with dramatic resonance and the music to match. “And when they pay their respects, they’ll have to wait in line.”

As IndieWire notes, there are obvious parallels here: “Claire’s words are self-referential to the Spacey scandal in the way they make it clear nobody is sad to see Frank dead and gone in the world of ‘House of Cards.’”
