Oh, look what you made Taylor Swift do: you made her beat streaming records.
According to Variety, Swift’s video for “Look What You Made Me Do” garnered over 32 million views in less than 24 hours, which is a record for a video this year. Reportedly it’s been racking up 3 million views per hour. And once it did that, it shot past Justin Bieber’s remix of “Despacito” (which reportedly got 22 million views in 24 hours) and Adele’s “Hello” (27 million views in 24 hours in 2015.)
The song is also at the top of the charts for Apple Music, Spotify U.S. and Global Top 50, and Amazon Music charts. According to Spotify it’s been streamed nearly 23 million times. Personally I have listened to Swift’s song maybe two times (it’s my job to, okay?) and seen the video exactly once. I just needed to say that, thanks.
So while Swift might not be bathing in diamonds regularly or rising from the dead, her video did get one thing right: she killed it in the streaming department:
