Lorde Confesses to Running That Onion Ring Review Instagram

“Okay, I have to explain for a second,” she says. “I sort of naively didn’t realize it would be a thing. I was going to different places and trying the onion rings at each of those places!”

Lorde says she shut down the account because she didn’t want it to be a big thing and that maybe fans would throw onion rings at her on tour. But in the process of reviewing rings—which she says are underrated—she learned she likes a “batter better than a crumb.” And lightly pickling the onion doesn’t hurt as well.

“I feel like it kind of reads like the kind of thing a popstar would do to look relatable which I wasn’t doing! It was a funny thing with my friends on the tour and I was like, this is a good pastime.”
