For months, we’ve heard that Lupita Nyong’o was “in the running” for one of the titular roles in the new Charlie’s Angels reboot. But, per The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday, we’ve learned that she will not be in the film.
Instead, the movie—directed, co-written, and co-produced by Elizabeth Banks, who will also star as Bosley—will feature Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska. Balinska is a relative newcomer, having only appeared on a handful of TV episodes, but Scott’s name might ring a bell. She’s playing Princess Jasmine in Disney’s upcoming, live-action effort to get the moviegoing public to buy more Aladdin merch. We all know who Kristen Stewart is.
The Charlie’s Angels reboot will premiere in 2019. Nyong’o, who won an Oscar for her role in 2013’s 12 Years a Slave, will be fine.
