Welcome back to Monday Barf Bag.
In case you missed Sunday night’s 60 Minutes, Republicans make fun of Trump behind his back; the president is probably the worst emergency contact for a death-threat crisis; and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) does not respond well to criticism. Get your mugs ready; the tea’s hot.
In MTG’s first big interview since announcing she was resigning from office in late November, she acknowledged her and the president’s very recent and very public falling out, and how he fueled death threats against her and her family. “I got a pipe bomb threat on my house,” she told CBS’ Lesley Stahl. “Then, I got several direct death threats on my son,” some of which had the subject line “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene,” which Trump has taken to calling her. MTG says she contacted the president and Vice President JD Vance to alert them of the threats, to which Trump said something like, “[not] very nice,” and the latter responded, “We’ll look into it.” (Infamously, he is also “looking into” saving his wife’s soul from the clutches of hell.)
MTG, once a staunch MAGA loyalist, has broken ranks with the president and the GOP on multiple issues this year—she’s opposed the administration’s strikes on Iran, Trump’s support of Israel, and his mishandling of the Epstein files, among other things. And a few days after the House Oversight Committee released a batch of files that further tied the disgraced financier-slash-pedophile to the president-slash-alleged-pedophile, Trump went on a Truth Social posting spree to call her the aforementioned “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene,” as well as “wacky Marjorie,” and a “disgrace” to the great Republican Party. On Monday morning, Trump switched to calling her a “low IQ traitor” and demanded “a complete and total apology” from her, while also calling Stahl “washed up.” Burn?
LESLEY STAHL: You contributed to the toxic culture. You were out there pounding, insulting people
MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: You've contributed to it as well
STAHL: I want you to respond to what you have done in terms of insulting people
MTG: I'd like for you to respond to that

During the interview, Greene further revealed that Trump’s cronies are as blindly devoted as they are fake. “I watched many of my colleagues go from making fun of him, making fun of how he talks, making fun of me—constantly—for supporting him, to when he won the primary in 2024, they all started—excuse my language, Lesley—kissing his ass, and decided to put on a MAGA hat for the first time.” She said others are “terrified” of receiving the same treatment that she got, namely after Trump got “extremely angry” at her for pushing for the release of the Epstein files.
“I stood for women who were raped when they were 14 years old,” she said. “And the president that I fought for for five years called me a traitor for that.”
Which… is an understatement. MTG didn’t just fight for the president before this year; she downright worshiped him. In 2021, she wore a “Trump Won” mask to Joe Biden’s inauguration; in 2023, she likened him to Jesus and Nelson Mandela; and in 2024, she thanked God for his safety after his attempted assassination. Stahl did not let her forget about this.
After MTG commented on the “toxic political culture” overtaking U.S. politics, Stahl replied, “You contributed to that. You were out there pounding, insulting people.” MTG fired back, “Lesley, you’ve contributed to it as well.” Stahl responded, “You’re accusing me. But we don’t have to accuse one another,” adding, “I don’t insult people,” to which Greene said back, “You do in the way you question, and you’re accusing me right now.”
Welp. Old MAGA habits die hard, I suppose.
