MAGA Husbands Had a Funny Way of Showing Off Their ‘Family Values’ This Weekend
When shots rang out at the White House Correspondent Dinner this weekend, they left their wives in the dust as they ran for safety.

When Saturday’s White House Correspondents Dinner was interrupted by the sounds of gunshots rippling across the Washington Hilton, the attendees there did what you might expect in such a situation. Guests ducked under their tables. Plates clattered to the floor. Self-proclaimed journalist Olivia Reingold made it all about herself. And! MAGA husbands left their wives in the dust as they hauled their asses to safety. So much for the party of “family values,” huh?
Let’s begin with the very unchivalrous White House Chief of Staff, Stephen Miller. When security guards came to collect him and his wife, Katie Miller—who’s currently pregnant with the fourth Miller spawn—he let her lead the way and closely stalked behind as she took the first steps forward before wrapping forward. Many noted that she looked a lot like his “human shield.”
His wife has since refuted the claims by calling them “absurd” and “malicious.”

And, well, at least Miller brought his wife with him when guards whisked him away. Health and Human Services Secretary RFK Jr. scrambled off on his own—and in videos, is seen skulking off with a crowd of agents while his wife, Cheryl Hines, trails behind.
On Instagram, Hines shared her own version of the story, calling it a “crazy moment.” “So we were there, and we heard shots, everybody got under the tables, nobody knew what was going on, and then Bobby’s security detail surrounded us, and took us, had to lift me over chairs, because I’m in heels, and a gown. They took us through all of the back ways, and we got in the car and left.”
Threads user kosherhotdogz pointed out that, “larry abandoning cheryl during a staged active shooter event would have been a perfect episode of curb.”
Kennedy’s estranged sister, Kerry, was also at the WHCD—though as a guest as the Boston Globe. She’d been speaking with Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.)—the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee—when the gunshots rang out, to which they both ducked under a table. She later tweeted that he shielded her and reassured her, repeating, “You’re OK.” Great. Another reminder that not all Kennedys are built the same.
A loud bang of gun shots, then “Get down, get down, get down!”
I hit the floor at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner mid conversation with Jamie @RepRaskin, who heroically protected me, whispering, “You’re ok, you’re ok, you’re ok,” while my host from the @BostonGlobe laid…

But! If there’s one MAGA wife that didn’t wait to be let down by her husband, it’s none other than the First Lady. Hearing the gunshots, Melania Trump reacted with a shocked face before ducking for cover—all before security even got to her husband.
