Meghan Markle's Ex-Husband Is Making a Comedy About Somebody Whose Ex Marries a Royal

Latest

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are suspected to be making their first official joint appearance sometime this coming week, as part of the Invictus Games in Toronto. Meanwhile, in Hollywood, Markle’s ex-husband Trevor Engelson is making a TV show about a guy whose ex-wife marries a royal, requiring them to share custody of their kids.

That’s according to Deadline. The premise: “Divorce is hard. Sharing custody is harder. Sharing custody with the British Royal family when your wife marries a prince, in the unforgiving spotlight of London’s tabloid media, is next level.” Modern Family’s Danny Zuker will be writing, and Engelson will be producing, and the pilot is in the works at Fox. (Engelson is also an executive producer on the upcoming Heathers show.)

It is absolutely, by the way, not a coincidence:

The comedy originated with Engelson who, in a conversation with fellow producer Farah, mused about what would’ve been if he and Markle had kids and he had to share custody with the British Royal family one day. Engelson and Farah liked the idea as a potential TV series which they pitched to WME.

However, Deadline is quick to stress that “the comedy is fictional, the lead characters are not based on Markle or Engelson, who have no kids together, and she has had no involvement in the project.”

Congrats, bud, but if she actually does marry Prince Harry, from here on out you’re always gonna be Meghan Markle’s ex-husband, rather than Meghan Markle being your ex-wife.
