Michele Bachmann Wants Us To Be More Like China

Latest

Did you know there was another Republican presidential debate last night? Well, there was, even though they just had one on Wednesday. Apparently these candidates are desperate for as many opportunities to open their mouths and end their candidacies as they can possibly get. This was the “Commander in Chief” debate, in which the candidates tried to talk about how qualified they were to be Commander in Chief. Michele Bachmann definitely proved she’s up to the task, as long as what she’s commanding is the People’s Army of Confused Individuals. Here’s what she had to say about where she’ll lead us:

The “Great Society” has not worked and it’s put us into the modern welfare state. If you look at China, they don’t have food stamps. If you look at China, they’re in a very different situation. They save for their own retirement security…They don’t have the modern welfare state and China’s growing. And so what I would do is look at the programs that LBJ gave us with the Great Society and they’d be gone.

Yes, China sure is grand—except Michele…umm, did someone forget to tell you that China is technically a communist country? Given that you run around accusing people of socialism like it’s the devil’s religion, are you sure you want to go all the way past socialism, out the door, and down the slippery slope to communism?

I mean, if you do, that’s fine. It’s a free country—which is more than China can say—so you can totally go for it, and honestly we would probably really love to watch you become a communist in front of our very eyes. But, either way, if you are going to start promising to undo Great Society programs, and this is just a small piece of friendly advice, you might want to update your website. In case you forgot, here’s what it says now about Social Security and Medicare:

Unfortunately, many Americans have been unduly frightened by scare talk about alleged attempts to potentially eliminate these programs. Michele understands the concerns of seniors who have been frightened into thinking that their Social Security could be taken away. As President, she will ensure that any reform to Social Security or Medicare will only affect those 55 and younger, and she will work to find a way to ease the next generation into a program that is solvent, fiscally responsible, and empowering to the individual. Michele has also pledged to protect Medicare by repealing Obamacare.

Yeah, you can see where it might confuse people since Medicare and parts of Social Security were established by the Great Society. So by promising to eliminate everything Lyndon Johnson accomplished, now you’re the one who is unduly frightening people by threatening to take their safety net away. I’m sure you totally know what you’re doing, though. We’ll just be here awaiting your orders, Chair(wo)man.
