A New Orleans mayoral candidate—whose family, by the way, invented the bouncy house—is facing a misdemeanor charge for allegedly masturbating during an Uber ride in California this past February.
Democratic candidate Frank Scurlock, whose campaign slogan is “Make New Orleans Fun Again,” was reportedly caught masturbating by his female Uber driver after she picked him up at his West Hollywood hotel on February 10, the New Orleans Advocatereports:
The Uber driver told police and prosecutors she was driving on a freeway near Santa Monica when she heard sounds coming from the back seat, where Scurlock was sitting, White told The New Orleans Advocate Friday as he read from the driver’s statement. Inferring that Scurlock was masturbating, the driver pulled over and opened the door, White said.
When she did, she allegedly found Scurlock with his pants around his ankles, his shirt pulled up and his erect penis in his hand, White said referencing the driver’s statement.
The driver then went to a gas station to call the police, an opportunity that Scurlock allegedly used to flee the scene. Police then went to Scurlock’s hotel, and the driver identified him from a photo line-up, Santa Monica Chief Deputy City Attorney Terry White told the paper.
Though the incident happened in February, formal charges were only filed on August 31 due to confusion over the jurisdiction where the case would be prosecuted.
Scurlock was also arrested in New Orleans in May at the city’s Jefferson Davis monument, which entailed an encounter with police that can only be described as “extremely strange.” Go on, watch this and tell me it isn’t extremely strange:
Scurlock will be arraigned in Los Angeles Criminal Court on October 16, two days after the city’s primaries. If found guilty, he will be required to register as a sex offender in California.
Prior to his mayoral bid, he was best known for his family’s bouncy house business and “paying for skywriting above the city.”
