According to the Obamas’ tax return, they’ve taken a huge pay cut. While they made $5.5 million in 2009, this year they only made $1.7 million, and paid $435,770 in federal taxes. Most of their income came from sales of the President’s three books, though the profits from Of Thee I Sing were donated to charity. Obama reported earning $395,188 in wages, salaries and tips. Apparently some stingy people aren’t throwing their change in the Oval Office tip jar.
