Relax, Here's the Hamilton Tony Awards Performance

Latest

Sunday evening’s Tony Awards have been dominated by Hamilton—the record-holder for most nominations now also holds the record (probably) for most time devoted to a single musical during a live broadcast. It dominated the show’s opening, Lin-Manuel Miranda did a lengthy segment of Hamilton carpool karaoke with host James Corden, and the show has already won Tony awards for Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Renée Elise Goldsberry), Best Featured Actor in a Musical (Daveed Diggs), Best Direction of a Musical (Thomas Kail), Best Original Score (Lin-Manuel Miranda), Best Book of a Musical (Lin-Manuel Miranda), Best Orchestrations (Alex Lacamoire), Best Choreography (Andy Blankenbuehler), Best Costume Design of a Musical (Paul Tazewell), and Best Lighting Design of a Musical (Howell Binkley). Geez.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been waiting for the Tony Awards for a chance to luxuriate in a well-recorded showstopper. And here it is: the cast of Hamilton performing “Yorktown.” We made it!
