Turns Out The ICE Goon Who Killed a Man in Maine is Way More Evil Than We Thought
David Michael Brouillette—the federal agent who shot a man in Maine on Monday—had a history of violent and abusive behavior, the majority of which was targeted towards women and girls, according to two ex-wives.

For months, the Department of Homeland Security has made a point of hiring the absolute worst Americans to join its ranks. But in yet another reminder of what atrocities brew in such circumstances, new reportage reveals David Michael Brouillette—the federal agent who shot and killed a 26-year-old man in Maine on Monday—prefaced his career in ICE with a history of violent and abusive behavior, the majority of which was targeted towards women and girls.
Per the Associated Press, which spoke to “several of [Brouillette’s] close relatives” on Thursday, many close to him believe he should have never been given a position at ICE to begin with, given a history of concerning mental health diagnoses. A former veteran, he was once rejected by military recruiters before applying again, and eventually enlisting.
Separately, I’ll note that as a veteran and a former LEO, ICE was probably salivating to hire this guy and not that interested in asking questions about his past.
There’s a reason there has been so much criticism over the agency’s post-OBBBA hiring practices. With billions on hand, ICE isn’t picky.

One of the relatives that spoke to the AP was Brouillette’s ex-wife, Ashley, who married him in 2007 and divorced him two years later, after she became pregnant and said he became physically violent—at one point throwing boiling water at her and their kid. She also spoke to the Portland Press Herald on Thursday, saying that her ex-husband called her shortly after the shooting, defending his actions. “He was asking me to lie for him and to cover his character,” she told the Herald. “I told him that I was not going to lie for him. And then he tried to say that it was a justified shooting because the guy tried to hit him with his car.”
A “justification” that—like many other ICE shootings—remains very cloudy. Brouillette fatally shot Joan Sebastian Guerrero—a Colombian delivery driver authorized to work in the U.S.—in smalltown Biddeford, Maine, saying that he “weaponized” his vehicle. But anyone with eyes and ears can see a very different story—and “vehicle assaults” have become MAGA’s latest buzzword to excuse the spate of shootings. After seeing videos of the shooting, Ashley Brouillette apparently told her ex, “Nowhere in there does it show that this man charged at you with a car.”
Speaking to AP, Ashley Brouillette also said she filed a restraining order against her ex-husband around the time he joined ICE—to which he apparently responded by leaving her a voicemail mocking her, calling her “disgusting,” and saying her—along with the other women and girls related to her—should die. “All of you should have your fucking throats cut,” the voicemail said. “Yeah, you should. Am I threatening that I’m gonna do that? Nope. Nope. But do I think that you should have your fucking throats cuts? Or should have had them cut? Yep.”
Another ex-wife of Brouillette—who requested to the outlet that she remain unnamed out of fear of retaliation—also says he stalked and harassed her, leading her to file multiple temporary protection orders. According to court documents, he had a history of tackling her teenage daughter, smashing pasta into her hair, and forcibly dragging her around the house. “Dave needs counseling or something for his PTSD & depression,” she wrote. Per the same documents, he denied all allegations.
“We will never confirm or deny attempts to dox our law enforcement officers,” ICE spokesperson Lauren Bis told AP News, in response to their reporting. (Good to know reporting on dangerous people is considered “doxxing” now.) “The ICE officer in question has nearly a decade of federal law enforcement experience with required training including use of force training.”
Which… is terrifying! Still, all this goes to further show that along with recruiting some horrible people, ICE has come under scrutiny before for tapping people that regularly fail basic written exams, background checks, and fitness tests. But, hm, maybe being evil is just what might get you the job.
