Stacey Dash Owned By Meredith Vieira After Calling Wage Gap 'An Excuse'
Latest
While appearing as a guest on an episode of The Meredith Vieira Show that airs today, Stacey Dash had plenty of uninformed things to say about the lack of equal pay between men and women. After Vieira confronted Dash about her opinion of the wage gap, the Clueless star and Fox News host said she simply thought of it as an excuse. Dash:

“It’s an excuse. Stop making excuses. If there are opportunities, seize them. And be prepared for them. And be the best, if that’s what it takes. If you have to be extraordinary, be extraordinary.”
Vieira then mentions the fact that women make 70 cents on the dollar and that, at the rate things are going, her 22-year-old daughter won’t see equal pay until she’s in her 60s. She suggested that, you know, the problem is systemic and the result of a culture that devalues women. The audience applauded, but Dash wasn’t ready to put her hands together.
“I don’t know if that’s true.”
“That’s true, that’s documented.”
“I know that the numbers are true, but I feel like your daughter will be able to make as much money as she wants in her life. Just like you are. I mean, look at you.”
So Dash believes the numbers, but not their implications. How very Fox News of her.
“For many years, I was not getting paid the same as the guys.”
“And you think it’s because you’re a woman?”
“I think that’s a lot to do with it…”
“I guess I won’t put my fate into anything other than my own action and taking my destiny in my hands. I will not play victim to anything.”
“I’m not saying I’m a victim. I’m pissed off. I don’t wanna be a victim.”
“If you want to be pissed off about it, then be pissed off about it and work harder for it. But I don’t think us, you know, complaining about it, because there was a law passed that we get paid equal pay.”
But Meredith got the final word. It is her show, after all.
“Except we don’t. But, we don’t. We don’t! We don’t! We don’t.”
