A Welsh teenager was found guilty of plotting an attack at a Justin Bieber concert in Cardiff, after authorities discovered that he’d been searching for details about the event’s security, as well as finding a hammer, a kitchen knife and a “martyrdom letter” in his backpack declaring that he was a soldier of the Islamic state. The suicide note read: “I am a soldier of the Islamic State. I have attacked Cardiff today because your government keep on bombing targets in Syria and Iraq. There will be more attacks in the future.”
Jurors were told the boy had also written a note with bullet points including “run down the non-believers with a car” and “strike the infidels who oppose Allah in the neck”.
The boy, who is 17, denied that he was intending to act, insisting to the court that he didn’t believe in Islam, but instead had a “stupid interest in the gory” and “never thought about actually” carrying out an attack:
