Texas Woman Kicked Out of Restaurant for Changing Baby's Diaper

Latest

A mom said she was kicked out of a Texas restaurant because she couldn’t find a private place to change her baby’s diaper and was forced to do it at her table.

Miranda Sowers was at Brother’s Pizza Express in Spring this week when she was reportedly kicked out for changing her baby’s dirty diaper. If the Mommy Wars were a real, actual war, kicking a mom out of an eating establishment for changing a diaper would be a bigger incident than the Battle of Cornwall. Via KHOU:

Sowers said it all started when she took her 4-month old into the bathroom at the restaurant and there was no changing table. She was alone with her baby Reagan, 4-year old daughter Lauren and 8-year old daughter Katelyn. She didn’t want to take everyone back to the minivan to do the diaper change.
Miranda said her next decision was a last resort.
“I thought you know what I’ve got my own changing pad, she’s tiny, she fits right here on the chair.” she told us. “So I laid her down quickly and quietly changed her diaper.”

That sounds well and good until you factor the smell of poo into the equation.

“As soon as you start opening the diaper, people start complaining about the smell of the diaper,” Donny Lala, Bessas manager, told KHOU. “Last thing I want is a customer throwing up.”

Sowers filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. She said no one dining at the restaurant saw her changing the diaper but employees brought her food out in to go containers and told her to leave.

These words did not come out of my mouth, but when I read this story to a friend and got to the part where I mentioned they did not have a changing table in the bathroom, his response was “Well, yeah, fuck this place then. Get a changing table.” (MY FRIENDS DO NOT FUCK AROUND WITH THEIR WORDS.) While I agree that mothers need to have a suitable place to change the diapers of their swaddled young ones, I also hate the idea of smelling poo while I’m trying to eat my dinner. I’m pretty sure having open human feces in a place where you are serving food is a definite health code violation. At least, it should be. Human poo is not a cool thing to have around food. I get why the restaurant was a little squeamish about having a lady change a diaper in the middle of their restaurant.

This is why changing tables need to be in bathrooms. Shout out to all the idiots who are about to flood this post with rants about “ENTITLED WOMENZ” who expect businesses to provide them with “LUXURIES” like decent places to change diapers. I know. You hate it when women ask for practical things that would save them from public embarrassments.
