At this point it seems like there are far too many seasons of American Crime Story in development. The season focusing on Hurricane Katrina was supposed to air as the second season in the series, with the following season focusing on the Gianni Versace assassination.
Now Katrina: American Crime Story, which is based on the book The Great Deluge by Douglas Brinkley and stars Annette Bening, has reportedly been delayed. The season will need additional time to create the water special effects needed to accurately depict Katrina. The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story will air as a second season, in early 2018, with Katrina following later that year.
The Versace season already has a couple of its episodes completed and you can already see some underwhelming photos of Penelope Cruz as Donatella Versace and some overwhelming paparazzi photos of Ricky Martin on set playing Versace’s partner Antonio D’Amico.
And when you’re done digesting all this news about two seasons of a show that doesn’t even air for another seven months, don’t forget that there’s already a fourth season in development about the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Whew!
