White House on Kanye's Presidential Bid: Sure, Bro

Latest

During Kanye West’s “speech” on Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, he concluded by announcing a presidential run in 2020. The White House, currently eyed by silly presidential hopefuls like Donald Trump and Ben Carson—who are leading in some political polls—figured they’d weigh in on West’s plans because, fuck it, why not?

Aboard an Air Force One flight, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told ABC News that he welcomed Ye’s presidential bid. In fact, he’s really looking “forward to seeing what slogan he chooses to embroider on his campaign hat.” Or maybe his ill-fitted sweatshirt.

While this is all fun and games to watch unfold, Kanye released his last single, “All Day,” months ago, and his album is overdue. Hopefully Kanye’s next album Swish, or whatever it’s called this week, drops soon enough to keep his star power alive as the Kardashians physically drain him of it day by day. Like President Obama famously said himself, Kanye “is a jackass, but he’s talented.”
