Singer and actress Zendaya said this week she was mistreated by a Vons grocery store clerk who threw her wallet and in some way intimated that the actress might not be able to afford the gift cards she was trying to buy.
“The lady that was helping us, I don’t think she was a huge fan of our skin tone,” Zendaya said in a series of Snapchats helpfully collected on YouTube. “In fact, I recall her not trying to help us at all, saying that we couldn’t buy the gift cards and then throwing my wallet.”
It’s not clear whether the shop clerk actually said Zendaya’s race had anything to do with the tense exchange—maybe she just really hates Taylor Swift—but both Zendaya and her friend say it seemed racially motivated.
“She was like, you can’t afford this, is how she looked at me,” Zendaya said. “Long story short, there’s so much progress to be done in our world.”
“Big mistake,” Zendaya says later, kicking open the doors of the Vons because her hands are clutching dozens and dozens of shopping bags stuffed with gift cards. She shakes the bags and cards fall out. “BIG MISTAKE.”
A single tear rolls down Kelly Osbourne’s face, but no one cares.
Lindsay Lohan’s new thing appears to be posting pictures of herself with a computer-generated flower crown on her head with the caption, “No filter.” I’d like to think it’s some sort of commentary on celebrity culture, but then again, I’d like to think a lot of things.
Last night, Kanye West performed atop a floating stage at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. In the crowd were the usual crew—Kim, Kendall, Kylie, who had platinum blonde hair and a dress that appeared to be made of bloody raspberry fruit leathers, Tyga—and a few of their “friends,” including Hailey Baldwin and Ariana Grande.
Guess how many of them looked excited to leave the relative security of the VIP area to dance, briefly, among the commoners in the pit.
