Mindy Kaling Reads from Her New Book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?
LatestEmmy-nominated writer and actress Mindy Kaling (of The Office fame) and curator of a celebrated Twitter feed (@mindykaling), has written a book. You may have encountered an excerpt from the November 1 release in the New Yorker. It’s not titled “There Has Ceased to Be a Difference Between My Awake Clothes and My Asleep Clothes” (though that one made the shortlist, according to MK herself). Instead, she settled on Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns).
The book features chapters titled “Failing at Everything in the Greatest City on Earth” (about living in NYC), “Contributing Nothing at Saturday Night Live” (self-explanatory), and “Guys Need to Do Almost Nothing to Be Great” (about, among other things, how a well-fitting J.Crew peacoat is a surefire golden ticket for the success train).
Mindy has recorded the audiobook version, and there’s nothing more charming then listening to her read her own brilliance. Enjoy a snippet of the audiobook (below) that describes her ground rules for best friendship. It’s pretty darn delightful.
